MathApprentice is an educational software for kids. It is targeted at kids between grades 4 - 7 but can also be used by higher standard children. The goals of this software are to connect math with real world careers, introduce students to more advanced mathematical ideas and provide additional opportunities to apply math concepts they have already learned. According to developmental theorist Jean Piaget, children within the ages of 2-7 are at the Preoperational Stage of Development. In this stage, perception dominates children's thinking. The name of this stage comes from the idea of "operation", or mental activity. Math Apprentice is a great software that can help with these mental processes in children.
This software does not replace classroom learning. It supports what is occuring in the classroom. The advantages of this educational software, as a tool, are that kids can use it at home or in their own time, it can embed learning specific elements through repeated exposure and practice, and very importantly, provide instant feedback on performance. MathApprentice is an easy to use software that will make learning fun! Kids will not want to stop playing. No longer will they dislike or fear mathematics. This softare will instead have kids excited about mathematics and how it can be used in the real world. The website is also connected to others such as: Math Playground, Game Classroom & Thinking Bloc

i did try this software and it was fun and very interactive. As a parent, i'll definately introduce it to my daughter.
great for encouraging children to do math. this interactive software makes learning fun and enjoyable. it was also easily accessible and opened quickly. my nephew spent hours behind this.
This looks as though it would be of great benefit to students as it allows them to connect math with the real world, like you said. It will definitely aid in their critical thinking abilities.
